Huynh Thi Kim Hiep (29 years old), living in Vung Lam Vien Street, Ward 8. Mrs Hiep and her husband have about 1,000 m2 of Kale grown in a greenhouse, giving a good harvest. Kale are grown on soil land, each bed is about 20 cm high. The drip irrigation system is installed directly on each root, thus saving considerable amount of water and fertilizer and reducing the cost.
This is a vegetable that is quite suitable for the climate and soil of Da Lat so it is very rare to see pests. Kale tillage from seedling to leaf harvest is 2.5 months. This is a long-term crop but for year-round products. Due to the harvesting of leaves only, trees reach the maximum height of more than 1m, leaf productivity increases with the age of the tree. According to the high time, 1 kg of Kale is up to 70,000 VND. With an average selling price of 35,000 – 40,000 VND /kg, this kind of vegetable has higher economic efficiency than other vegetables.
Her Kale is consumed mostly in Ho Chi Minh City. A new kind of vegetable has just appeared in the Vietnam market, which is said to bring good health benefits, Kale is used for processing into the food and flavored smoothies. Now Kale is attracting the attention of consumers, the price at the garden is quite high, stable, and this is an opportunity to enrich the Dalat farmers.
