Training Conference, 2024 on Innovation in Training and Research activities held at Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University

(BAFU) – On November 12, 2024, at Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University (BAFU), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) held the 2024 Training Conference on Innovation in training and research activities, improving the quality of human resources in the agricultural sector, chaired by Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam.

Attending the Conference were representatives of Universities, academies, Departments, Divisions and Institutes under the MARD, Press and Media agencies. On behalf of BAFU, there were Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Duong – Party Secretary, Rector; Board of Rectors and heads of units under and units affiliated to the University.

In his welcoming speech, Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Duong – Party Committee Secretary, Rector of BAFU welcomed and expressed his delight at receiving the delegates attending the Training Conference, 2024 at BAFU. The Rector made a brief introduction about BAFU and emphasized that “the Conference is an opportunity for BAFU to learn experiences from other units, and gradually improve the training quality and reputation of the University. This is also an opportunity for the University to continue to receive more attention, encouragement and support from the leaders of the Ministry, Departments, Institutes and educational institutions under the Ministry”.

In the summary report on training work for the period 2022 – 2024, Mr. Ngo Hong Giang – Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel has set out target orientations to develop training in the coming time. Accordingly, it is necessary to promote research and technology transfer, especially high technology, biotechnology, and promote digital transformation…; shift mindset from “agricultural production” to “agricultural economic”; provide high-value and diversified products according to the value chain in accordance with market requirements; produce effective and sustainable agricultural production; develop ecological, organic, circular, environmentally friendly agriculture; adapt to climate change and develop an economically – socially sustainable agriculture system.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam requested the delegates to focus on improving the quality of human resource training in the agricultural sector, with the goal of shifting from agricultural production thinking to agricultural economic thinking; building a team of highly qualified farmers and experts. He emphasized the need for innovation in teaching, scientific research, encouraging innovation and international cooperation. The Deputy Minister mentioned the financial autonomy plan for educational institutions under the Ministry and improved facilities to meet standards in the coming period. At the same time, the Deputy Minister also requested the units to implement appropriate methods in accordance with the context and the Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee and Resolution No. 37-NQ/BCSĐ of MARD on training high-quality human resources.

At the conference, leaders of units under MARD discussed and proposed solutions to improve efficiency of training in the coming time: 1/ Orientations in building the project to intellectualize farmers (Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development); 2/ Vocational training for rural workers (Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development); 3/ Training of leading experts in the field of Agriculture and Rural Development (Vietnam National University of Agriculture); 4/ Lessons from mergers in education institutions towards autonomy and the need for innovation (Hanoi College for Electro – Mechanics).

The conference was successfully held, focusing on urgent issues in the development of agricultural human resources training for the period 2022 – 2024 and orientation of tasks for 2025 – 2027. The event will help the units under the Ministry effectively implement the policies and strategies in the coming time.
