(BGO) – With deep impression on “Lychee tree in home garden” model, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan bought lychee tree in the garden of Nguyen Van Son in Quy Son commune, Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province).
Chairman of Luc Ngan district People’s Committee La Van Nam said the lychee is grown in the growing area to export to Japan. Minister Le Minh Hoan placed a sign of ownership on a lychee tree in such model.

Vu Van Men, Head of the Organic Lychee Production Alliance to export to Japan, US and Europe in Dong Giao village (Quy Son commune) confirmed that many officials in Bac Giang province have ordered lychee trees of the alliance with average price of 4 to 5 million VND (170 – 213 USD) per tree. When the lychees are ripe, the owners can harvest the fruits by themselves.
The alliance now has 9 members to grow lychees in line with organic standard which meet the requirements of fastidious markets such as Japan, the US and EU. This year, the alliance has signed contract to sell lychees to many businesses with prices ranging from 30,000-35,000 VND per kg.

In addition to expand promotion for lychee consumption and export, this year, Luc Ngan district had new ways to improve the value of lychee such as building ecological tours, experimental tours to allow visitors to harvest the fruits or sell the lychee tree under “Lychee tree in home garden” model.
The Minister Hoan recommended the district to diversify channel to sell farm produce so as to reduce the seasonal risk. The eco-tourism lychee garden model acted as an effective consumption method right at local area.
Tran Van Hanh in Chao village, Giap Son commune is one of the pioneers who linked to business to build lychee garden tour model and sell lychee tree to visitors.

So far, his garden has welcomed over 2,000 tourist arrivals. The tourists bought more than 10 lychee trees in the garden with average price of 10 – 10.5 million VND per tree.
“I want to do multi-value agriculture by selling the fruit and the whole story on lychee hills. Now I am piloting to grow lychee with special quality toward high-end segment,” Hanh revealed.
