(BAFU) – On the morning of April 14, at the of February 3rd Square (Bac Giang City), the Bac Giang Provincial People’s Committee held the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2023 with the theme “Books: Awareness-Innovation- Creation”, “Books for me, for you”.

In the opening speech, Deputy Director of Bac Giang Department of Information and Communications Ngo Dinh Tien said that the organization of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day aims to implement the guidelines and policies of the Party and State on cultural development; implementing the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress on building and promoting Vietnamese cultural values and human strength.

Deputy Director of Bac Giang Department of Information and Communications Ngo Dinh Tien suggested that all levels, branches, agencies, units and schools continue to pay attention to building and upgrading the system of libraries, reading rooms, and buying more books and newspapers, digitize libraries, develop electronic books and newspapers according to the digital transformation program to meet the diverse and rich needs of readers. Pay attention to integrating reading culture in such movements as: Building culture, promoting learning, promoting talents; focus on deploying to rural areas, mountainous areas and disadvantaged areas.
This year’s Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) in Bac Giang has many activities such as: Displaying and introducing books, newspapers and historical and cultural documents with a total of about 4,000 books, equivalent to 20 thousand copies of 6 bookstores inside and outside the province and the Bac Giang Provincial Library. Bac Giang newspaper displays more than 70 photos of outstanding political events, economic, cultural and social achievements of the province. Within the framework of the event, there was also a talk on the topic “Books: Awareness – Innovation – Creation”, “Books for me, for you”.

The event is aimed to define the position, role and importance of book to knowledge and skill enrichment, thinking development and personality formation, encourage the development of book-reading in the community, create convenient reading environment, form book reading habit at home, schools and workplaces and create a learning society.
