Representing the BAFU were Dr. Nguyen Tuan Duong, Vice Rector and leaders of the Department of Science and International Cooperation, the Faculty of Agriculture, and the Center for Research, Application and Technology Transfer in Agriculture and Forestry.
Overall View of the Meeting
The project ‘Building a science technology corridor in the Vietnam-China border area’ was implemented at BAFU in 2017, with the content ‘Building a high-tech applied agricultural demonstration model’ under the responsibility of the Center for Research, Application and Transfer of Agricultural and Forestry Technology. The foreign partner was GXASS, China. The project began at the University with three crop subjects: Ha den grape, melon and potential corn varieties. From the collaboration with the GXASS, the University has absorbed and perfected the process of growing and caring for the Ha den grape variety, mastered the process and transferred the technology of growing Ha den grape to farmers in the North and North Central provinces. In addition, two high-quality melon varieties were selected with thick flesh, thin skin, prominent netting, orange-yellow flesh color, crisp flesh, mild aroma, and few seeds. For corn, three varieties were identified that are suitable for the climate and soil conditions of the northern, adapt well, and yield stable productivity.
At the meeting, the Chinese experts highly appreciated the development of the Ha den grape variety and the University’s dedication to this crop. They also expressed their desire to cooperate in transferring new crop varieties with BAFU in the near future.
Prof. Lu Rong Hua delivering his speech
Prof. Lu Rong Hua congratulated the University for achieving many awards related to the Ha den grape variety. He noted that grapes are a crop often attacked by fruit borers, affecting the quality and appearance of the fruit, but the University has excellently controlled pest management, resulting in very high economic efficiency.
