Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University Promotes Cooperation with Zhenjiang City, China

(BAFU) – On the afternoon of April 22, 2025, Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University hosted a reception and working session with a delegation from Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, China.

Overview of the Working Session

The Zhenjiang delegation was led by Mr. Yue Weibing, Deputy Standing Committee Member and Senior Inspector of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Zhenjiang City, accompanied by other senior officials. From Viet Yen Town, Mr. Than Van Thuan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee, and representatives of various departments also attended the meeting. Representing BAFU were Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Duong, Party Secretary and Rector; Dr. Nguyen Tuan Duong, Vice Rector; along with leaders of affiliated departments and units.

“We hope to establish connections with eight universities in Zhenjiang to expand our cooperation, and we look forward to welcoming them for visits and jointly developing collaborative projects,” shared Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Duong.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Duong introduced the university’s development journey, from its establishment to its diverse academic programs, such as automation, mechatronics, automotive engineering, Chinese and English language. The professor emphasized the university’s strength in cooperation with China, particularly noting that many of the university’s doctoral graduates were trained there. Notable achievements, such as the development of the Ha Den grape variety and other crop varieties, serve as evidence of the university’s research capabilities.

“We hope that the friendship between Zhenjiang and BAFU will become increasingly closer, opening up many opportunities for cooperation in education and culture,” Mr. Yue Weibing emphasized.

Delivering his speech at the meeting, Mr. Yue Weibing expressed his impression of BAFU’s facilities and development orientation. He said that “Zhenjiang is an educational center with 08 universities, including  2 are specialized in agriculture and 100,000 students are studying in Jiangsu province”.

“We are ready to support academic cooperation and exchange with Vietnam, creating opportunities for both students and lecturers from both sides to grow together,” said Mr. Gao Qinghua.

Mr. Gao Qinghua, Commissioner of Jurong City, shared insights on clean, green, and high-quality agriculture in Zhenjiang. He particularly highlighted Jiangsu University of Science and Technology with a history of over 100 years, a campus area of 400 hectares, 12,000 students, and 187 PhDs. The university not only leads China in science and technology but also pioneers in short-term training programs, summer and winter camps, attracting international students, including Vietnam since 2018.

Both sides engaged in lively discussions on potential cooperation in student training, agricultural technology transfer, and academic exchange. BAFU expressed its desire to establish connections with the eight universities in Zhenjiang to broaden collaboration. The working session concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and group photos, symbolizing goodwill and high expectations for a strong and lasting partnership.

The visit of the Zhenjiang delegation stands as a testament to BAFU’s efforts toward international integration. With similarities in education, agriculture, and culture, the university is gradually affirming its role as a bridge for Vietnam–China cooperation, contributing to the socio-economic development of Bac Giang Province and region.
