On September 6, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan visited the BIOMIN Research Center in Tulln, Vienna, as part of an accompanying program for a high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam led by Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue to attend the 5th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (WCSP5) in Austria.

The Minister of MARD was welcomed at the research center by Lower Austrian Government Member Eichtinger and BRC executives.

BIOMIN, a subsidiary of DSM Corporation, the global leader in animal nutrition and health solutions, develops and produces feed additives, premixes and services, to enhance animal performance and health in a natural and cost-effective manner.

Since 1995, BIOMIN has invested approximately USD 30 million in agricultural research and production facilities in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Duong.

At the meeting, the center’s Board of Directors and scientists presented an overview of BIOMIN’s research activities in Austria and facilities in Vietnam, as well as DSM & BIOMIN’s high-tech agricultural and biotechnology solutions for livestock and aquaculture, with an emphasis on Vietnamese output.

As noted by Franz Waxenecker, Director of Development and Innovation at BIOMIN, Vietnamese farmers, like those in many other countries, are facing a number of challenges in livestock farming, including measures to improve livestock health and productivity through natural and environmentally friendly products, as well as a reduction in the maximum reliance on antibiotics.

BIOMIN has been doing research in agricultural, animal nutrition, and life sciences since 1995 in order to provide high-quality, cutting-edge science to assist Vietnamese farmers in addressing these problems.

Minister Le Minh Hoan shared at the working session and meeting with BIOMIN that as a follower, the country should approach and collaborate with the world’s top scientific organization to reduce the gap. We want to switch from productive agriculture to agriculture that is characterized by a high rate of knowledge and science, particularly in emerging scientific fields such as life science and biology, as well as by addressing issues such as climate change and agricultural production’s impact on ecosystems.

The agriculture expert said that BIOMIN has taken a forward-thinking scientific approach to develop appropriate goods and models for the aquaculture sector in order to ensure health while without compromising the ecological system. This is valuable information and experience for Vietnam in terms of promoting innovation in the science and technology system, laying the groundwork for sustainable agricultural development, and enhancing the quality of life for farmers and consumers alike.
