Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development attends Opening Ceremony of the new academic year; Festival of Reading and Innovation at BAFU

(BAFU) – On the morning of October 19, 2024, Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University (BAFU) held the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 – 2025 academic year, Reading and Innovation Festival.

Attending the ceremony were delegations of Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri; the People’s Committee of Bac Giang province led by Mr. Mai Son – Acting Chairman, together with a number of leaders representing departments of Bac Giang province, Viet Yen town and enterprises.

On the side of BAFU, there was Prof.Dr. Pham Bao Duong – Party Committee Secretary, BAFU Rector; Dr. Dang Xuan Anh – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of BAFU Council, Board of Rectors, leaders of affiliated units, the Trade Union, the Youth Union, the Student Association, along with representative staff and students of BAFU.

Prof.Dr. Pham Bao Duong – Party Committee Secretary, Rector of BAFU gave a speech and beat drum to launch the New Academic Year 2023-2024

In his opening speech, Prof.Dr. Pham Bao Duong affirmed that the 2024 – 2025 academic year is a special school year marking 65 years of construction and development of BAFU. Last year, the University was recognized for achieving quality accreditation for educational institutions and 5 university training programs that affirmed the qualifications and quality of the teaching staff.

The University is committed not only to providing quality education, but also training up students in such a way that they have an easy access to a bright future. Students will approach completely new methods as promoting self-study, self-research; improving teamwork and enhancing learning by integrating theory with practice. The success of the University must start doing the smallest things to make the biggest difference, requiring patience and time because of  the inspirational quote “Unless you  go, you will never know”.

Congratulating BAFU on its achievements, on the behalf of Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri highly appreciated the University for its outstanding achievements in recent years, affirming its position as one of the four higher education institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The school has boldly built an autonomy project, projects on restructuring the organization of units to promote internal capacity and strengths to promote growth in training activities, scientific research and services in the future.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri suggested that in the 2024-2025 school year and the coming time, Bac Giang University of Agriculture and Forestry needs to focus on innovating all aspects of its operations, effectively exploiting all resources, promoting internal capacity and strengths to promote growth in training, scientific research and service activities.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development also advised students to be aware of the development trends of science and technology and the 4.0 industrial revolution. “You need to have a love for your career and a new entrepreneurial spirit. I believe that if there is cooperation between schools and businesses in starting a business, creative ideas will be commercialized. Therefore, starting a business in schools is not a playground but an opportunity to become a master in the future,” Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri emphasized.

At this solemn ceremony, representing students of the University, student Luong Thu Huyen expressed her joy, honor and pride of becoming a “BAFUer”. She believed that studying at BAFU, students would have the opportunity to study in a good condition. With the care and dedicated help of the BAFU’s leaders, faculties, functional departments, teachers along with their own efforts, they would be determined to overcome difficulties, seize opportunities and complete their learning goals.

BAFU leaders awarded scholarships to students

On this occasion, BAFU awarded companion business scholarships to 02 valedictorians and 13 students with high achievements in the 2024 Admission Campaign. Hai Thinh Nutrition Joint Stock Company, New Hope Hanoi Co., Ltd. sponsored a Study Promotion Fund for the University worth 50,000,000 VND.

At the Festival, a large number of delegates visited nearly 20 booths displaying books and innovative startup products. They were amazed to witness such wonderful narrations, illustrations and creativity of students and expressed their high appreciation for this generative innovation.

The program honors the value of books, affirm the position, role and importance of books in social life; promoting the BAFU library’s activities to create useful playgrounds for readers; connecting book lovers and arousing interest in reading books among students.
